Wii U User Accounts Arrive, Friend Codes Are Now a Thing of the Past

Say goodbye to those shudder-inducing friend codes. The Wii U will feature user accounts that will work with the Nintendo Network’s user ID system to replace friend codes, and give everyone connected a better experience.

No longer will we have to worry about inputting those long 12-digit codes. According to Nintendo, the user ID system will be much more efficient, giving players a chance to friend people they know in real life, plus those who appreciate the same games.

The Wii U allows up to 12 user accounts, and along with the Mii character representing the account, general gameplay information, saved logs, time spent per application/game, and other information is stored for each individualized user account.
