Interview: Two Tribes Shares Details About Toki Tori 2 and Plans for the Wii U eShop

As one of the first development studios showing full support of the Wii U eShop, Two Tribes will lead the way in showing what we can expect from future Wii U downloadable titles. We recently chatted with Two Tribes via Twitter about what we can expect from the upcoming Toki Tori 2, and what they thought of the Wii U console. Official Toki Tori 2 Logo - Wii U eShop

Wii U Turn: Will Toki Tori 2 run in native 1080p HD? What was the funnest part about developing Toki Tori 2 for the Wii U?

Two Tribes: At the moment, yes, and the funnest thing was making a console game again.

Wii U Turn: Can gamers use the Pro Controller or the Wii Remote Plus, or GamePad to complete the game?

Two Tribes: Toki Tori 2 can only be played using the GamePad.

Wii U Turn: Do you think gamers will be impressed in how you integrated the GamePad with Toki Tori 2?

Two Tribes: We’ll share more information on the GamePad’s functions soon.

Wii U Turn: What were the development team’s first reactions to the GamePad? Was it easy to brainstorm ideas?

Two Tribes: Toki Tori 2 was conceived before the gamepad was announced, so we’re mostly using it to communicate additional info.

Wii U Turn: How does Toki Tori 2 give both hardcore and casual gamers a great gaming experience?

Two Tribes: We don’t make distinctions between gamers – we’re making a game with easy and difficult paths. Gamers make their difficulty in Toki Tori 2.

Wii U Turn: Did you find the Wii U to be an easy console to develop for?

Two Tribes: Yup! Our PC tech is easily ported over to the Wii U. It’s been smooth sailing.

Wii U Turn: That sounds great! Will we see any DLC? And can we expect a demo of Toki Tori 2 on the Wii U eShop?

Two Tribes: Right now, we have no DLC planned. A demo would be nice, but for now our focus is on finishing the game.

Wii U Turn: Thank you for the great answers and new information!

Two Tribes: No problem!

Will the Wii U eShop be a bigger success than we realize? If we use Toki Tori 2 as an example, downloadable titles on the Wii U eShop are capable of very high quality HD. We can’t wait to see what Two Tribes upcoming game is like, and what it will bring to the eShop lineup. Fingers crossed we’ll learn more soon.
