Developer Two Tribes is currently working on Toki Tori 2 for the Wii U eShop.
Interestingly, the Two Tribes team claims that they found a hidden Wii U hardware feature. This “new hardware feature” apparently allowed them to shave off an extra 100 MB of texture memory.
“Today we discovered a new hardware feature of the Wii U that shaves off 100 megabytes of texture memory usage in Toki Tori 2! [This] means we spend less time loading and have more memory available when the game is running.”
It sounds like other developers are welcoming the idea that the Wii U is a next-gen console, and this developer isn’t the first to praise the Wii U system’s hardware features. Just recently Michel Ancel of Ubisoft had positive things to say about the gamepad’s features as well.
